President Theodore Roosevelt once said,
No man is above the law, and no man is below it.
The Constitution establishes the process for selecting federal judges in Article III, which states that the President nominates federal judges for the Supreme Court, Courts of Appeals, and District Courts, and the Senate confirms them.
Article III states that these judges “hold their office during good behavior,” which means they have a lifetime appointment, except under very limited circumstances.
During his first term as President, Donald Trump appointed more than 200 federal judges, and 3 Supreme Court Justices. The consequences of the latter are well-documented, impacting the bodily autonomy of millions of American citizens.
With his second administration underway, President Trump is already overreaching in a number of troubling ways. There is nobody to stop him but the members of our Judicial branch.
In summary: We must hold our judges accountable to the oath they take. If they are committing misconduct, it is patriotic to report.
